Crowning a rustic hillock in a majestic splendor and set against the lush green undulant, sylvan ambiance, Prof. Kandoth Memorial College has already marked a noble legacy in the educational scenario of North Malabar. The college with its unique semi-circular edifice has a picturesque site near Thumbeni Shrine, Madampam on the eastern side of Taliparamba – Iritty Sate Highway and it comes under the jurisdiction of Sreekandapuram Municipality, Irrikur Block, Kannur District, Kerala
The College was established in 1995 as a self-financing institution and was converted into an aided college in 1997. It is affiliated to Kannur University and recognized by NCTE. This temple of learning is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and named after Prof. Joseph Kandoth, who was an educational visionary, social reformer and a zealous missionary. He initiated the historical migration of Kananaya Catholic Community which in its turn changed the social and economic history of Malabar.
At present Major Arch Bishop of Kottayam Arch Diocese Mar Mathew Moolakkat is the patron and Mar Joseph Pandarasseri the Auxilary Bishop is the Manager. The college was accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade and is presently in the second stage of re-accreditation.

History of the institution.
The college is named after Prof. Joseph Kandoth a great visionary and social reformer who initiated the mass migration of a part of the Knanaya Community from Central Travancore to the green pastures of North Malabar. This temple of teacher education is the realization of the cherished dream of the Knanaya Community under the leadership of a great teacher, our founder Mar Kuriakose Kunnacherry, the Arch Bishop of Kottayam.
The prime aim was to impart education and training to the less privileged and marginalized section of the society to pioneer vibrant social mobility in the agrarian community. In the history of the catholic church of Kerala to name an educational institution after a layman is indeed, an innovative and revolutionary step. The college was inaugurated on 19th June 1995 by the patron Mar. Kuriakose Kunnacherry in an old building of Maryland High School in 1996 it was shifted to the edifice on a hilltop sprawling in 10 acres of land, conspicuously unique for its semi-circular form, in tune with the undulating his On 31sr March 1997 this self-financing college was converted into an aided college. The provisional affiliation was charged to permanent affiliation from 18th October 2004 onwards. The college is included in the UGC 2(f) and 12(B) status on 31st March 2005.
Fr. Stephen Jayaraj OFM (Cap) was the founder manager and he was followed by Rev. Dr. Msgr. Jacob Kollamparambil, Mar Mathew Moolakkattu, Co-adjustor Bishop of Kottayam, Fr. Thomas Annimootttil, Rev. Fr. Alex Akkaparambil, Fr. Abraham Kalarikkal and presently Rev. Fr. Jose Chirappurathu.
Dr. Philip Joseph Kaduthodiyil acted as the first principal in charge of the college followed by Mrs. Maya J. Pillai. After converting into aided college in 1997, Prof. C.N. Balakrishnan Nambiar was appointed as Principal followed by Father P.J. George, Dr. Babu Kochamkunnel and presently Dr. Stephen T A. Dr. Anil R and Dr. Stephen T.A acted as lecturers in charge.
The past decade has already set the path for the realization of the notice vision and caring mission cherished by the institution in the curricular realm, the students of P.K.M. stood a head securing topmost ranks in the University almost every year. They were always peerlessly ahead in sports and games too. In fine arts their performance was always superb in social awareness and commitment to the profession, the posts thousand four hundred students are none. With hope and confidence, we progressively march on to encompass the kind of transformative education envisaged by the management. Therefore, apart from the academics, the institution strives for complete personality development based on sound human values.
